As we kick off 2026, it’s the perfect time to pause and celebrate everything you accomplished in 2025. Take a moment to reflect—did your flexibility improve? Did a trick finally click? Remember, it’s always about progress, not perfection.

To help start the new year strong, we’ve included a 2026 Goal Sheet. Take some time this month to fill it out and chat with your teacher while stretching in class. Setting clear goals helps turn “someday” skills into confident, on-stage tricks!

As you work toward your new goals, remember that consistent stretching and strengthening are key. The effort you put in now is what brings those tricks to life on stage this season.

Set Up for Success in Class

Preparing for class is one of the most important ways to help your dancer succeed. A proper dress code ensures safety, focus, and the ability for instructors to give the best corrections possible.

3 Tips for Success:

1. Clothing

Dancers should wear form-fitting dancewear, no loose clothing. This is for both safety and proper technique correction. When clothing stays in place, dancers can focus fully on their skills, and instructors can clearly see body alignment and movement.

Appropriate options include:

  • Leotards
  • Bra tops and booty shorts
  • Tight-fitting tank tops and leggings
  • Any combination of the above
No jewelry should be worn to class.

2. Hair

Hair should be pulled back and out of the face. Low ponytails, buns, or braids work great and help dancers stay focused.

3. Feet

Bare feet are best when learning and training acro skills.
